 Employment Law Primer:  Top Three Misconceptions in Employment Law

What is employment law and why is it important?  This presentation will provide a broad overview of employment laws in Hawaii, the importance of understanding them, and the top three misconceptions employers/employees have about the law.  We will cover such topics as “at will” employment, what constitutes unlawful discrimination, the complexities of leave laws, and more.

Kimberly Iwao is a full-time faculty member in the Paralegal Program at Kapiolani Community College.  She was formerly a partner at Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel and in-house counsel for ProService.  She has also taught business law at Hawaii Pacific University.  She teaches estate planning, probate and employment law as well as law office management in the Paralegal Program.
